I'm Alaizyah. I love hotels, traveling, and sharing what I think about the places I stay. Now I have a much bigger goal: experience as many kinds of hotels as I can while working toward owning one of my own someday.

The idea

Most hotel reviews come from people who only stay in one kind of hotel. This project is the opposite: stay in as many different kinds of lodging as possible — branded hotels, independents, motels, resorts, extended-stay properties, boutiques, airport hotels, luxury properties and the genuinely unusual ones — and work out what actually makes a place good.

Every stay is rated on the same categories, the ones that apply are the ones that get scored, and every review answers two questions: would I stay again? and would I own one?

The long game

The point of learning all this is to eventually buy, renovate and run a hotel. The Hotel Fund is reserved for the hotel ownership project and may be used for any legitimate expense involved in finding, evaluating, acquiring, financing, renovating, furnishing, preparing or opening a hotel property.

It is kept completely separate from the Stay Fund. The Stay Fund supports Alaizyah Stays travel, hotel stays, reviews, videos and related content expenses. This may include lodging, transportation, parking, resort or destination fees, equipment, production expenses and other reasonable costs related to creating Alaizyah Stays content. Unused money remains in the Stay Fund and carries forward to future stays and content. It never transfers to the Hotel Fund.

Progress is published on the funds page — the balance, the goal, what came in and what went out.

The audience picks

Before a trip gets booked, a free poll runs on the vote page. Anyone can vote. Nobody can buy extra votes, and supporters get exactly the same single vote as everyone else.
